Description
This Intensive Barista Course runs Monday to Thursday and is delivered by coffee training professionals.
In this hands-on Barista Course we cover:
- The essential elements of commercial espresso making.
- Discover the three 'E's of perfect espresso - learn about the coffee making method of EXTRACTION, the EQUIPMENT used and the different ESPRESSO variations that can be made.
- Learn the art of texturing milk - the secrets of how to turn ordinary milk into a smooth, velvety and frothy addition to your coffee.
- The origins of coffee and coffee care - learn about roasting and blending techniques, the packaging of coffee and the maintenance and storage of coffee.
- Cleaning and maintenance of coffee machines - we run through how to properly clean your coffee machine and grinder.
- Advanced food handling skills and knowledge, including the ability to supervise food operations to ensure food safety and hygiene standards are achieved and maintained at all times.
Assessment
Competency is assessed through a combination of assessment methods, including written questions, observation of practical demonstration of skills, verbal questioning.

The cost of this course is $400.00 but some applicants may be eligible for Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding. To be eligible for the 2011 Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding, you must:

At the end of the 4 day course participants who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment in the following units:

SIRRFSA001A – Apply Retail Food safety Practices
